Offered for auction is my prized 2002 Jaguar XJ 4.0 V8 Sport Edition.
The condition can only be described as museum/collector quality.
While the opening bid is certainly low enough to allow purchase for use as a daily driver, any discerning lover of luxury performance vehicles and/or Jaguars would be proud to have this in their collection.
The car is pristine: outside, inside, over, and under.
There is not a ding or scratch or tear.
Not a single leak.
Not an issue of any kind.
Each and every accessory and power option functions perfectly.
She is ready to flawlessly drive up your street or across the country.
If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a classic XJ, this is the one you want to own.
Gorgeous White Onyx exterior with Ivory Connolly Leather Hides, accented with rich Burled Walnut throughout.
The quality of materials and excellence of craftsmanship are evident in every aspect of the car.
I purchased the vehicle from the original elderly owner in July of 2019 with 46,400 documented miles.
This car was his pride and joy and I am still in touch with him.
The gentleman leased the car brand new in California and originally registered it in care of his business.
When he retired, he bought out the lease, titled it to himself, and moved to Nevada, which is where I reside.
He also had a Cadillac and thus the XJ was driven on special occasions.
To my knowledge it has not been driven in inclement weather.
The undercarriage is absolutely immaculate.
As confirmed by Carfax / Autocheck, the vehicle is accident free.
I did extensive research prior to purchasing the vehicle as this was to be my retirement gift to myself.
Like many of you, circumstances and life have changed in the past 18 months and so I must sell.
This is one of just 2,534 Jaguar XJ 4.0 Sport Editions produced.
This chassis design is known as the X308 and it is considered the last classic Jaguar.
Its lineage reaches back to the classic XJ40,which was the last car that Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons had a hand in designing.
The Sport Edition is truly a 4-door sports car and features an upgraded suspension with Bilstein shock dampers, stiffer springs, larger sway bars, special 18 inch wheels with255/50/18 tires, and a special interior with power sport bucket seats.
In addition, the exterior trim is color keyed for a sportier look.
This car is equipped with almost every imaginable option, to include a power moonroof.
It cost over ,000 new in 2002, which equates to over ,000 in 2021 dollars.
I had a Jaguar dealer research the VIN for me and they advised that this car has engine serial #LL0109282040.
Why did I do this?
I wanted to ensure that this car had the later evolution of the Jaguar 4.0 V8, which used metal camshaft tensioners and not plastic, which can be problematic.
This engine is in fact the later evolution of the 4.0 V8 and uses metal camshaft tensioners, meaning that it will run flawlessly for hundreds of thousands of miles.
The original owner was fastidious with maintenance and I have been as well.
I have inspected and serviced every system of the vehicle.
From engine to cooling to brakes to transmission to rear axle.
All have been serviced and fluids changed according to Jaguar factory specifications.
The tires had just 5,000 miles on them when I purchased the vehicle and I have driven 3,400 miles in the two years that I’ve owned it.
The car, quite literally, needs nothing.
I have made two upgrades that you will no doubt enjoy.
I installed a stereo Bluetooth interface, which is hidden, unseen, in the trunk and allows you to listen wirelessly to your favorite music from your smartphone.
The car is factory equipped with an amazing sound system and trunk mounted 6 disk cd changer.
The cd changer system functions perfectly, but obviously having Bluetooth capability is a great convenience.
In fitting with the sporting nature of the vehicle, I also made an upgrade to the exhaust.
The XJ 4.0 Sport Edition comes from Jaguar with the same exhaust as luxury and limousine models, which is dual exhaust with two large silencers ahead of the rear axle and another large pair of silencers behind the rear axle.
The car was much too quiet, with no visceral engine noise of any kind.
I thus imported a pair of tailpipes from the UK, specifically made for the car that eliminate the rear silencers.
The sound is perfect and it appears as if it came from the factory with this configuration.
It is quiet at cruise, but has just a hint of classic growl on open throttle.
This set-up is also said to add 10-15 horsepower to the already robust 4.0 liter V8, which is factory rated at 290 horsepower.
The rear silencers will be included in the sale should you want to reinstall them, which is a simple procedure.
(Although I can’t see why you would want to.)
I have both sets of keys with remote fobs, as well as all original documentation for the car, to include the owners manual.
I also have a stack of maintenance receipts from the original owner.

I hold clear Nevada title and the car is currently registered and smog certified (updated as of June 25, 2021) in Nevada.
As it is considered a collector vehicle by American Collectors Insurance, full, agreed value coverage is amazingly affordable.
